Oppo F3 Plus vs Vivo V5 Plus vs OnePlus 3T

We compare the selfie-centric OPPO F3 Plus with its contemporaries Vivo V5 Plus and OnePlus 3T in the sub-Rs 30,000 segment.

Upping the selfie game, OPPO launched its F3 Plus last week. Priced in the premium segment, the OPPO F3 Plus offers a phablet experience along with a dual selfie camera setup. We compared the smartphone with its rivals in the sub-Rs 30,000 price point including the OnePlus 3T and Vivo V5 Plus. Here’s how they fare against each other.

Price: The OPPO F3 Plus is the most expensive out of the three smartphones and carries a price tag of Rs 30,990. The Vivo V5 Plus, which also offers a dual camera experience, is priced at Rs 27,980 while the OnePlus 3T is priced at Rs 29,999. All the smartphones compared here do not have variants based on hardware.

Display: Out of the three, the OPPO F3 Plus offers a phablet experience with its massive 6-inch full HD Super AMOLED display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass on top for protection. Both the Vivo V5 Plus and OnePlus 3T feature a 5.5-inch display; the former has a full HD screen with 2.5D curved display on top for protection, while the latter has a full HD Optic AMOLED screen. While having a larger screen does offer an enhanced experience, what further improves it is the resolution on offer as that defines color reproduction on the screen. In the case of the OPPO F3 Plus, the display is mammoth but the resolution is limited at full HD. The competing smartphones, on the other hand, offer a better experience despite having relatively smaller displays.

Hardware: The OPPO F3 Plus is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 SoC. The Vivo V5 Plus runs the newer and more capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, which is fabricated using the 14nm process for more efficiency and less power power consumption. The OnePlus 3T is powered by the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 SoC. The Oppo F3 Plus and Vivo V5 Plus come with 4GB of RAM while the OnePlus 3T is equipped with a higher 6GB of RAM. All the three handsets come with 64GB of internal storage and offer option to further bump the storage via microSD card. If one looks at the competition, the OPPO F3 Plus loses out over the use of the chipset. While the other two smartphones offer a much better configuration at slightly lesser prices.

Operating system: All the three smartphones run the older Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box but with their respective custom UI layered above. The OPPO F3 Plus runs with ColorOS3.0, the Vivo V5 Plus runs the FunTouch OS 3.0, while the OnePlus 3T runs Oxygen OS layered above Marshmallow. ALSO READ: Oppo F3 Plus hands-on and first impressions

The smartphone further comes equipped with a 16-megapixel Sony IMX398 sensor at the rear with f/1.7 aperture along with a host of filters and modes.
