OnePlus CEO Pete Lau recently posted a teaser on Weibo confirming that a new smartphone is in the works. Although, the teaser showed nothing more in terms of specifications, it ignited the excitement in everyone awaiting the next OnePlus flagship device. The OnePlus 5 has so far been rumored to come with 8GB of RAM, Snapdragon 835 SoC, and a dual-camera setup. A new leak on Weibo suggests that the OnePlus 5 could be powered by a 3,600mAh battery and 6GB of RAM.

Although a decrease in the battery size, the Weibo post further says that the battery will come with 25 percent improvement in charging. This leak further contradicts earlier reports of the OnePlus 5 possibly equipped with 8GB of RAM, and it would instead come with 6GB of RAM. The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T, launched last year, have 6GB of RAM each. In addition to this, the smartphone is said to come with 128GB of internal storage.
Posted on Weibo by Kumamoto Technology, this leak also suggests a dual-camera setup on the OnePlus 5. There has been enough stress on the OnePlus 5 sporting dual cameras which are assumed to be placed vertically. The Weibo leak however says that the dual cameras will be placed horizontally. Recently alleged camera samples of the OnePlus 5 were leaked, which hinted on the possibility of the cameras achieving depth of field for bokeh effect. According to past rumors, the OnePlus 5 is expected to sport a sleek design with thinner bezels. OnePlus could also opt for a dual-edge curved display like the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge for its next flagship device. The smartphone will most likely be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC. In addition to the 128GB internal, the smartphone could come with a 64GB variant as well. The storage would be further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card. In the photography department, the OnePlus 5 is expected to sport a 16-megapixel selfie camera. Some contradictory reports have also suggested that the smartphone will feature a single 23-megapixel rear camera. For connectivity, the OnePlus 5 will possibly feature a USB Type-C port. On the software front, the smartphone is expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box with OxygenOS running on top.
