Gionee A1 lite with 20-megapixel selfie camera launched: Price, specifications, features

This the budget variant of the GIonee A1, which was unveiled at MWC 2017.


At MWC 2017 earlier this, we saw the unveiling of two new Gionee smartphones — Gionee A1 and Gionee A1 Plus. Now, expanding the series further, the Chinese smartphone maker has announced the Gionee A1 lite. However, the phone is launched only in Nepal, and there is no word from regarding its international or Indian availability. The phone, like most Gionee phones, focuses especially on the front camera.

As per a report by The Android Soul, Gionee A1 lite comes with features and specifications similar to Gionee A1 and A1 Plus, but is a more toned down device. In terms of looks, the phone is simple and comes with the standard Gionee design. The front of the phone comes with the capacitive buttons on the bottom of the display and on the top is the front camera with flash, earpiece grille and the sensors. The circular physical fingerprint sensor is on the back of the device, right under the camera. The antenna bands run through the back of the phone in parallel lines. Gionee A1 lite features, specifications

Gionee A1 lite comes with a 5.3-inch HD (720p) IPS display protected by 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood, is an octa-core 64-bit MediaTek MT6753 chipset clocked at 1.3GHz. The phone comes in just the 32GB internal storage variant, with 3GB RAM. The phone supports storage expansion up to 64GB. The Gionee A1 lite runs on Amigo 4.0 based on Android Nougat 7.0. In terms of the camera, Gionee A1 lite outdoes Gionee A1.

The rear camera is a 13-megapixel shooter with an aperture of f/2.0 and dual LED flash. The selfie camera is the highlight of the device and comes with a 20-megapixel resolution with single LED flash and the same aperture as the rear camera. The device boasts a 4,000mAh battery. The phone supports 4G LTE and comes in the Gold color. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack on the device. On the connectivity front, the phone comes with 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS.

The phone is presently announced only in Nepal, where it is priced at Nepalese Rupee 26,999 (approximately Rs 16,900). The phone will be available for sale starting June 18, and is expected to arrive with offers and discounts, as the Gionee teaser reveals. The phone can be pre-booked through Gionee retail outlets in the country. Gionee has not specified the offers or the schemes for early buyers or for those who pre-book the phone. There is also no clarity on whether the phone will be available through e-commerce portals.
