Xiaomi launched the Redmi 4 in India back in May. At the time of the launch, the company had announced that the smartphone will be available online via its official site mi.com and Amazon India. However, now, with an aim to ramp up its offline presence, the Xiaomi Redmi 4 will also be available to purchase via offline channels in India.
The Xiaomi Redmi 4 was launched in three variants — 2GB RAM/16GB storage variant which is priced at Rs 6,999, 3GB RAM/32GB storage variant is available for Rs 8,999, and the 4GB RAM/64GB storage is priced at Rs 10,999. However, according to 91Mobiles, Xiaomi has increased the price of the smartphone by Rs 500, and the revised prices stand at Rs 7,499 and Rs 9,499 for the 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM variants respectively. The Xiaomi Redmi 4 essentially replaces the Redmi 3s smartphones. The Xiaomi Redmi 4 would be the third device from Xiaomi to be available offline. Earlier this year the Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4A also started selling via offline channels.
Earlier this year, Xiaomi had announced that it aims to generate 25 percent of its turnover from offline segments. Xiaomi India Head Manu Kumar Jain was quoted as saying, “Till now, our focus was on online sales. Now, we will focus both on online and offline distribution. We expect our share from offline to grow from current 10 percent to 20-25 percent by the end of this year. This is our aspiration.” Despite its focus on offline segment, Xiaomi continues to do well in the online space.
