With Christmas around the corner and just in time for the travel season, Google has announced that it has updated its suite of travel applications and services to feature price tracking and deals.
In its blog post, Google said that Google Flights has received a new update that makes hotel bookings cost-effective with the help of machine learning. Google Trips, on the other hand, now comes with a new Discounts feature.
A few months ago, Google updates its Flights service with the ‘tips’ feature, which offered recommendations to save air travel costs. The feature was originally limited to flight bookings. But now, Google has used machine learning to provide users with tips to pick a hotel for your stay. The tips will be received above the results of your hotel bookings when room rates are higher than usual. The feature will eventually help you plan your trip better and avoid the busy dates and get the hotel and flights at an affordable rate.
Users can also be alerted of hotel price drops with email price alerts. These can be scheduled through the Google Flights mobile site. Google has announced that the feature will be expanding to desktop next year.
On the other hand, the Google Trips app, launched last year has added a new “Discounts section.” This feature will show deals for tickets to top attractions, activities, and tours in the city you are traveling to.
“Book and save on a tour of the Mayan ruins near Cancun, or get priority access to the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. No matter where you’re headed (and if you need ideas, read on), Trips makes it easy to browse and access fun stuff to do on your vacation without breaking the bank,” Google VP of Travel Products Richard Holden said in the blog post.
The Discounts tab inside of the Trips app will be available in English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, and Portuguese.
