Xiaomi is likely to launch the long-rumored Redmi 4 at an event on November 4. It could also launch the Redmi 4A on the same day.

Xiaomi has already launched the Mi 5, Redmi 3, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4, and more recently the Mi Note 2. But it is far from done, and the Redmi 4 has long been on the rumor mills now. Though there’s been no official announcement of sorts, turns out the Redmi 4 could launch as early as this week, on November 4. If all the reports are to be believed, the company could also launch an affordable variant, dubbed Redmi 4A, at the same event.

First reported by Androidheadlines, Xiaomi has posted a teaser poster on its Weibo account, which confirms the launch of the smartphone on November 4. The Redmi 4 has been subjected to many leaks in the past, and was recently spotted on benchmarking site and TENAA that revealed the kind of specifications and features we can expect. The teaser shows the left corner of the Redmi 4 and it is likely to come in black color. We spot a 2.5D curved glass up front, a display with thin bezels, metal frame and antenna bands. On the right side of the smartphone, the volume rocker and power button are located and the SIM slot is located on the left side, which is the case with all Xiaomi Redmi devices.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 specifications

From what we know so far, the Redmi 4 will feature a 5-inch display. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor paired with 3GB of RAM. Along with that, the smartphone will come with 32GB of onboard storage. Previous leaks pointed to a 5-inch full HD (1080p) display and MediaTek’s Helio X20 deca-core chipset under the hood. So there are possibilities that the smartphone could be powered by MediaTek processor in China, and Qualcomm processor in India.

In the photography department, the Redmi 4 is said to sport a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF support and LED flash. Up front, there will be a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The Redmi 4 is said to be armed with a 4,000mAh battery which is contradictory to the previous rumors that said that the smartphone will comes with 4,100mAh battery.

Xiaomi Redmi 4A specifications

There is not much known about the Xiaomi Redmi 4A. However, from the few leaks that have managed to surface online, the smartphone is expected to come with 2GB of RAM and an internal memory of 16GB. The Xiaomi Redmi 4A will be powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. In the photography department, we can expect a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5-megapixel selfie camera. The smartphone can be equipped with a 3,030mAh battery. The connectivity options expected include dual-SIM support, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, GPS and FM Radio. On the software front, the smartphone is expected to run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.

If rumors are to be believed, Xiaomi might launch two variants of the Redmi 4A — one with the option of expandable storage, and the other without. However, there has still not been any official confirmation whether the company plans to launch a Redmi 4A device, so we suggest that you take this information as well with a grain of salt.

Xiaomi Redmi 4 price

Leaks have not only revealed the specifications of the upcoming phone, but also the pricing. Reports suggest that the Redmi 4 could be priced at CNY 1,300, which is approximately Rs 12,900. This is a bit steep in our opinion, and we would rather believe another report that claims the smartphone will be priced around CNY 699 (Rs 6,900 approximately).
