
The Xiaomi Mi 6 is rumored to launch in three variants powered by MediaTek Helio X30 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC.
Xiaomi concluded 2016 by launching some interesting devices such as Mi Note 2, the concept phone Mi MIX, Mi 5s with ultrasonic fingerprint sensor and more. Now, it’s 2017 and all eyes are on the company’s upcoming smartphone — the Mi 6. A lot has already been leaked about the upcoming smartphone over the past few months, and the latest report sheds more light on its speculated launch date.
According to a latest report on Chinese publication GizmoChina, the Mi 6 is likely to be launched sometime in mid-March, with trial production to begin in February. Reports also hint that Xiaomi could unveil the smartphone at MWC 2017 next month in Barcelona. However, Xiaomi is yet to confirm its presence.
The Xiaomi Mi 6 is likely to feature a dual-tone design with metal back. It is also expected to come with a home button below the display, which will also double up as a fingerprint sensor. Xiaomi is likely to use the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner technology, the one found on the Mi 5s. Rumors also hint that the Mi 6 will come with a flat screen LCD display, whereas the ‘Pro’ variant would feature a dual-edge curved OLED display, something that is also expected on one of the iPhone 8 variants. From what we have come across so far, the Mi 6 is likely to be powered by Qualcomm’s 835 SoC with OLED panel and 2K display. However, there is no word on the screen size. In terms of memory options, Xiaomi is likely to offer the one with 4GB of RAM and 128GB storage, and the other with 6GB of RAM and 256GB storage. The other variant could be powered by MediaTek’s Helio X30 SoC paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB onboard storage. In the photography department, the Mi 6 is likely to sport an upgraded 12-megapixel Sony IMX362 sensor. Interestingly, this sensor is found on smartphones like the Google Pixel and Pixel XL. For selfies, a 4-megapixel front-facing camera could be in tow. Some reports also hint at dual-rear camera module on the ‘Pro’ variant. While details about battery capacity are scarce at the moment, the Mi 6 could include a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, and run on MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Xiaomi Mi 6 price
Reports suggest that Mi 6 price could start at RMB 1,999 (approximately Rs 19,800 ) for MediaTek version. The Qualcomm version with 4GB of RAM + 128GB storage is likely to set you back by RMB 2,499 (approximately Rs 24,800), whereas the ‘Pro’ variant with dual-edge curved OLED display, 6GB of RAM + 256GB storage could be priced at RMB 2,999 (approximately Rs 29,600).
