The month of September holds a lot of importance for smartphone makers as these companies launch their most awaited smartphones which eventually contributes to company’s business for the following quarter and subsequent profits. This September was no different and we saw smartphones like the Apple iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Nokia 8, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and the Xiaomi Mi A1 debuting in India. Whereas other launches like iPhone X and Mi Mix 2 also made their debut in foreign lands and are expected to be shipped in India later this year. Here’s your quick digest in case you missed out on these top smartphones launched this month.
Xiaomi Mi A1
The Xiaomi Mi A1 is the first smartphone this year to debut with Google’s ambitious project, Android One. Also, the Mi A1 is Xiaomi’s first smartphone with a dual-camera setup to launch in India. It features a 12-megapixel Telephoto lens + 12-megapixel wide angle lens on the back. The smartphone ships with stock Android 7.0 Nougat. In terms of features and specifications, the Mi A1 ships with a 5.5-inch full HD (1080p) display. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa-core SoC aided by a 4GB of RAM. Nokia 8
Nokia is always known for something out of the league and while every other smartphone makers are betting on selfie and portrait photography, the Nokia 8 boasts of Bothie photo and Dual Sight video. Priced at Rs 36,999, the flagship smartphone by Nokia lets you click photo or shoot video using both the front and rear camera at once.

Apple iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus & iPhone X
Apple innaugrated the Steve Jobs Theatre this year with three new iPhones, all powered by the custom-made A11 Bionic Chip. The iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, said to incremental upgrade over the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, are now available for sale in India. The iPhone 8 duo flaunts a front and back glass design, improved dual-rear camera with new Portrait Lighting mode and better dust and water resistance. On the other hand, the most expensive of them all, the iPhone X, is Apple’s bet against smartphones with minimal bezels and edge-to-edge displays. The iPhone X comes with OLED display panel and ditches Touch ID for the all new biometric authentication system called the Face ID. The iPhone X will be available in India from November 3, with prices starting from Rs 89,990 for the 64GB storage variant. Xiaomi Mi MIX 2, Mi Note 3
The Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 with 93-percent screen-to-body ration and Snapdragon 835 SoC was launched at an event in Bejing, China. The price for the second-generation bezel-less smartphone starts at RMB 3,299 (approximately Rs 32,400). It went on sale in China on September 15 and the first sale went out of stock in just 58 seconds. Unlike Mi MIX, The company has confirmed to release the Mi MIX 2 later this year in India. Alongside the Mi MIX 2, Xiaomi also announced the Mi Note 3 at the same event. The smartphone has a similar camera setup as the Xiaomi Mi A1. Besides, it features a 5.5-inch display with a dedicated Reading Mode. The smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor coupled with 6GB of RAM. Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy C8
Dropping its hat in the dual-camera space, Samsung has launched two of its first smartphone with the two-lens setup at the back for photography. While the flagship Galaxy Note 8 is now available for sale in Inda, the mid-range Galaxy C8 debuted in China and expected to release in India later this year.
In terms of features and specifications, The Galaxy Note 8 comes with a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display and an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. It is powered by a 64-bit Exynos 8895 octa-core SoC aided by a 6GB RAM. You can choose from 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage variant and further expand storage using the microSD card slot. As for the Galaxy C8, it has 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display and is powered by an octa-core chipset. It comes in two variants - 3GB RAM+ 32GB onboard storage and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage. The smartphone also has a fingerprint scanner integrated into the physical home button on the front.
Vivo V7+
Vivo V7+ has to major USPs – FullScreen display and the 24-megapixel selfie camera. Priced at Rs 21,990, the smartphone with 18:9 screen ratio is now available in India for sale. It further features a 5.99-inch and is powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 450 SoC. It has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. Sony Xperia XZ1
Sony’s latest flagship smartphone – Xperia Xz1 comes with a 5.2-inch full HD (1080p) display with HDR support, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on top. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone further has 64GB of onboard storage while its USP is the 19-megapixel primary camera. LG Q6+
As the name suggests, the LG Q6+ is a scaled up variant of the previously launched LG Q6 smartphone. The LG Q6+ comes with a 5.5-inch full HD+ display offering a resolution of 2160X1080 pixels. Asus ZenFone Selfie 4, Selfie 4 Pro
The ZenFone Selfie 4 and Selfie 4 Pro smartphone are Asus’s latest selfie-centered offerings. Priced at Rs 23,999, the ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro is the flagship model and features the world’s “most advanced” 24MP “DuoPixel” selfie camera, as the company claims.
On the other hand, the ZenFone Selfie 4 is priced at Rs 14,999 and is configured with dual-selfie cameras featuring 20-megapixel lens with ƒ/2.0 aperture and an 8-megapixel lens with 120 degree super wide-angle lens and soft light LED flash. YU Yureka 2
The Yu Yureaka 2 is the second-most affordable offering in our today’s list. Priced at Rs 11,999 the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 625SoC and features a 16-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel front camera.
Lenovo K8, K8 Plus
After the Lenovo K8 Note, the company has launched Lenovo K8 and K8 Plus. The Lenovo K8 being the affordable one is priced at Rs 10,499 and features a 5.2-inch HD (720p) display with a 2.5D curved glass on top. It is powered by the MediaTek Helio P25 octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz.
