Google Assistant support might soon be seen on ChromeOS powered PixelBook and Chromebooks.
Just days away from the October 4 Google event, latest leaks hint at some interesting offering that the company might launch. A leaked coding of Google Home app reveals that users could soon use the artificial intelligent (AI) based Google Assistant in the new Chromebooks.
According to a report by 9to5Google, the new feature was found lurking in the latest Google Home app suggesting that few Google Assistant application will work with Chromebooks. “Listed in the compatibility section of the Chat with your Assistant ‘game’ right alongside phones, Google Home, and Allo is Chromebooks, clear as day,” the report said.
If the leaked coding is anything to go by, then the feature would soon make its way onto Chromebooks. Moreover, the report also suggests that the yet-to-be-announced PixelBook running the Chrome OS might allow users perform various tasks using the Google Assistant. The company has reportedly been making a lot of additions to the AI-based digital assistant in order to make it more ‘smarter’ than before. The move by Google shall be welcomed by Google fans as competitor Apple and Microsoft already has their respective digital assistants, Siri and Cortana, support featured on latest macOS and Windows 10 OS. As the rumors suggest, with new upgrades the Google Assistant is said to perform complex tasks with much simpler commands. The latest update on Google Assistant reportedly brings a new feature to the Google search bar that appears on the screen. And, it can now look for first and third-party integrations that are available on the apps installed on the device. “Whether you check the list by tapping the blue icon on the top right after launching Assistant, or by browsing in the Google Home app, you can see a new search bar on top. That lets you search through all the possible Assistant integrations,” Android Police reported earlier this week. Alongside the PixelBook, Google is expected to go official with the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones, Google Home Mini and other products. The company is also rumored to be working on a super-sized Google Home ‘Max’ speaker to take on the like of Sonos Play 3 and Apple HomePod. There is no word if it will be unveiled at the October 4 event.
